Deschutes Pinedrops IPA
Posted: 28 November 2015  Beer Republic 7.0
Deschutes Pinedrops IPA from USA Deschutes decides to shake things up a bit with citrus and pine notes from Chinook and Equinox hops.  As a kid when I'd sniff a pine cone and delight in its aroma, I always wondered what it would taste like if that pinecone aroma could be turned into a liquid. Will you feel like you're walking in the scenic pine forests just up the road from the Deschutes brewhouse in Bend?  Not unless you're watching Drugstore Cowboy or Five Easy Pieces.
Avg price/liter: USD 5.30   ABV %: 6.5  Type: IPA

Deschutes is one of those American breweries where you're sure you're never going to get hosed.  Some of their beers are better than others but none of their beers are bad.

As Deschutes is based in Oregon, the IPA style features heavily in their lineup.  Deschutes decides to shake things up a bit with citrus and pine notes from Chinook and Equinox hops.  As a kid when I'd sniff a pine cone and delight in its aroma, I always wondered what it would taste like if that pinecone aroma could be turned into a liquid.  Alas, Pinedrops IPA won't answer that question because I didn't think you could really taste any pine or citrus or spruce or whatever.

Think of this like a maltier and hoppy pilsner, and you'll have some idea what this tastes like.  It's a very decent IPA and Pinedrops is a nice name.  Will you feel like you're walking in the scenic pine forests just up the road from the Deschutes brewhouse in Bend?  Not unless you're watching Drugstore Cowboy or Five Easy Pieces.
